Improve the WYSIWYG editor completed

I'd love to let one of my customers edit their restaurant menu using CushyCMS, but it's a fairly complex table and appears pretty poorly in the WYSIWYG editor.

Valid point- we're looking into replacing the WYSIWYG editor with something nicer. We'll probably even give designers the choice between several.

Here's the shortlist: FCKEditor / WYMeditor / YUI

  1. Default-avatar

I would love to see a medium version of TinyMCE instead of FCKeditor.

  2. 1 Default-avatar

I had problems editing a relative link that was already in the code. It didn't display when I highlighted it and clicked the "add link" button.

  3. 1 Default-avatar

I think just having the ability to turn off the basic editor and enter raw code would be nice. No need to setup an entirely different "advanced" editor

  4. Default-avatar

Letting designers choose what WYSIWYG to show to the editors is a great idea. Some "editors" really shouldn't have the power that most advanced WYSIWYGs give them.

  5. 1 Default-avatar

a basic / advanced choice would be nice... basic, predefined classes for editors/clients (as 'intheory' states) is a really great solution

  6. Default-avatar

I eval'd 3 or 4 WYSIWYG tools for a commercial CMS. Its a struggle to please a broad user base. Some editors offer an array of complex editing tools but anger power users who'd rather edit raw code. Others are locked-down (eg. drop-down with predefined classes only). Allowing clients the ability to setup a config file for editors on a site by site basis would be great, but a lot of backend work.

  7. 1 Default-avatar

Hopefully the WYSIWYG wouldn't need to be as complex as the advanced TinyMCE, but it should at least allow headings 1-6, divs, etc.
